Our Story: From Loss to Legacy
Journey Me This began long before it had a name. In February 2022, while engaged, Kennedi and Braden started a small creative venture together, more hobby than business, that eventually faded into the background.
Everything changed in October 2023, when they unexpectedly lost their first child at 29 weeks gestation. Searching for a way to channel their grief into something meaningful, they returned to the idea of creating — this time with purpose.
Kennedi had thought of the name Journey Me This nearly a year earlier for a different project, but it took on a new, deeper meaning: not just a personal journey, but one shared through art, faith, and remembrance.
“Even though the name was originally about our story, it became about everyone’s story — the milestones, moments, and memories that make each person’s journey unique.”
From that heartache, Journey Me This was reborn — a small family business dedicated to preserving love, joy, and connection through laser-engraved keepsakes.
Our Mission & Values
At Journey Me This, we believe the story behind the keepsake makes it meaningful.
Our mission is to help families preserve their most precious memories, spread joy through beautiful craftsmanship, and celebrate the moments that make life special, not just during the holidays, but all year long.
Core Values:
Faith — our foundation and daily strength.
Family — the core of every keepsake we make.
Creativity — the spark that transforms ideas into heirlooms.
We promise every piece is made with quality, care, and heart. Each design is handcrafted with love and built to last, because your memories deserve to be remembered for generations.
Meet the Founders
Kennedi Coombs
Designer & Storyteller
Kennedi has been creating since she was eight years old — from whimsical Photoshop edits for her short stories to watercolor painting, cake decorating, and woodburning. Creativity has always been her language.
She’s now in her final year of college, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Graphic Design and a certification in Digital Marketing.
At JMT, Kennedi designs every keepsake, manages photography and marketing, and shares stories across social media. Her sentimental nature shines through her favorite creations, especially “Baby’s First” keepsakes, which hold extra meaning now that she and Braden have welcomed their baby boy.
“I love helping people tell their story through something they can hold onto — something that captures love, joy, and family.”
When she’s not designing, Kennedi enjoys cooking, baking, and sharing simple, homestead-style living on their other account, @JMThomestead.
Braden Coombs
Engraver & Engineer at Heart
Braden always loved working with his hands and figuring out how things work. When he discovered laser engraving, he dove in headfirst, learning through late nights of research, trial, and troubleshooting.
He now handles the production, packaging, and shipping of every JMT piece, ensuring each order meets their high standards of craftsmanship.
“It’s rewarding to know that something we made in our small studio ends up halfway across the world, helping another family commemorate their own story.”
Braden’s technical precision, patience, and curiosity make him the perfect balance to Kennedi’s creative vision. Together, they form the heart of Journey Me This.

How We Create
Each piece begins as a spark of inspiration — a moment, photo, or idea someone wants to preserve.
We primarily work with basswood, wood rounds, twine, and wooden beads, chosen for their natural beauty and warmth. We use the same laser engraver that started it all — the one Kennedi and Braden first experimented with in a garage — now carefully tuned to bring each custom design to life.
Watching the laser trace someone’s story across the wood never gets old.
“It’s amazing seeing an idea become something tangible — something that will hang on someone’s tree or wall for years to come.”
Every detail matters: from choosing the smoothest blanks to packaging each order with care. Because every keepsake represents a moment in someone’s life — and that deserves our best.
Our Customers' Stories
Journey Me This has now served hundreds of families across the U.S. and beyond.
From ornaments featuring loved ones’ handwriting to baby announcements, memorial pieces, and keepsakes celebrating engagements, each story shared reminds Kennedi and Braden why they started.
One of their most meaningful experiences came when a customer encased their JMT keepsake in resin along with branches from the tree where they got engaged, transforming one small creation into part of a larger memory. Knowing that our keepsakes become part of people’s lives and celebrations means everything to us.
